Hot Springs Atlas

Data disclaimer

Last updated 2026-05-07

This is a personal wishlist, kept loose on purpose. Here is what to expect from the data and how to report mistakes.

Temperatures are approximate

Listed water temperatures reflect a typical primary pool. Many sites have multiple pools at different temperatures (we capture that in the temp range field). Hot springs drift a few degrees with the seasons; small pools cool faster than large ones, surface pools cool faster than enclosed ones. Treat the listed value as a rough centerpoint, not a thermometer reading.

Prices drift every season

Commercial operators raise rates, add timed-session premiums, change weekend pricing, or switch from per visit to per soak. We update when we notice. Always confirm on the operator's site before you drive.

Booking URLs get renamed

Operators redesign their sites. Booking platforms move. Every link worked when added, but a few break each year. If a link sends you to a 404, email us and we will fix it.

Cell service is often an educated guess

Few operators publish cell coverage. The cell service column is based on reports, forum posts, and carrier maps. Assume no service for any wild or USFS site unless you have a first-hand report.

Crowd judgments are seasonal

"Busy" near a destination resort means different things on a Saturday at 2pm versus a Tuesday morning. We try to mark crowd realism honestly, but it is an opinion that depends on time of day, season, and which side of the calendar you are on.

Wild and primitive springs

Roads to wild springs wash out. Trails reroute after fires. Land managers sometimes close springs after pollution events or after a death. Verify current legal access before driving to anything that is not on a commercial or USFS day-use list.

Map coordinates are close, not surveyed

Most pins are accurate to within a few hundred meters. If a pin is obviously wrong, send coords and we will correct it.

How to report an error

Email help@hotspringsatlas.com. Tell us the spring name and what you saw. No form, no login, no account.

For operators

If you operate a spring listed here and something is wrong, or you want the listing removed, see the operator takedown page.
