Travertine terraces perched on a cliff above the North Umpqua River, with a shelter-roofed top pool and three stepped open pools below. Iconic. Crowded most daylight hours; go at dawn in shoulder seasons or skip summer weekends entirely. Clothing-optional by custom, not regulation. Forest Service Road 3401 typically closes November-April for snow, adding a 2.5-mile hike from the winter gate. Verify USFS status before the drive.
